Review: Under Rose-Tainted Skies by Louise Gornall

I´m glad I read Under Rose-Tainted Skies as soon as it was released…

When I read the synopsis of the book I felt completely curious, intrigued and drown to it.

When I went to the bookstore to get my copy, I may or may not have squealed a little… really, I´m not exaggerating, I´ve had been wanting to read this book as soon as I saw it on GoodReads; The cover completely catched my attention, it´s so beautiful and I love the glossy finished of the letters, it´s impossible to not fall in love with the cover, plus did you see the cage with the little bird inside?

Did you see that instead of chain sostaining it, it´s a phrase?

I didn´t notice at first, but when I read it, I loved it, it says:

“If she can´t go out, can she let him in?”

After reading that phrase I totally understood the meaning of the the cage, and I couldn´t help to fall in love with the book a little more.

Norah is one of the truest, most realistic characters I´ve read about.

She is scared of going outside and so she prefers to stay at home, the only place where she feels completely safe. She only trusts her mom and her doctor. I really loved the relationship that she had with her mom, she was her best friend.

And then Luke arrives and everything changes, and at the beginning Norah didn´t know what to do, but then he starts to talk to her and he sends her this notes with cute questions… He clearly wants to be her friend, perhaps even more than a friend ;D and Norah feels something she has never felt before. Little by little he enters her life.

I loved how he treated her and how both of them felt around each other ❤

Norah is one of the most strongest character I have ever read about. While she had a lot to deal with, she proved that she was able to overcome her fears and for that I truly admire her. This book was absolutely powerful and beautiful, I think everyone should read it, I hope you love it as much as I did.

Becky ❤

  1. I haven’t read this yet, but it’s been on my list for months before it was even released! I’m glad to finally see a great review of this book, though – the others I’ve read have been kind of mediocre or negative, which really bummed me out because I was looking forward to reading this one so much. I kind of held off reading it for that reason, but upon seeing such a positive review I might have to crack my copy open and get to it! Awesome review, and so glad you enjoyed it!

  2. This reminded me a bit of Everything Everything, just cause she didn’t leave her house. I heard this on audio last week and although I didn’t love it as much as you did I did like it. I was happy to see a girl with mental illness that falls in love. I feel like it’s taboo now for a book character to god forbid fall in love. For some reason it seems like readers want them to be alone and miserable forever…
