Cleaning up my TBR

Cleaning Up My TBR: Down the TBR Hole #1

have 1709 books in my TBR list.😭 It’s so overwhelming to look at that number with I go into Goodreads. I came across Reading In The Wings one day and she had this amazing meme up on her blog. Cleaning up my TBR: Down the TBR Hole. I really needed to minimize my list and I thought what a better way to do that than to join the Down the TBR Hole meme which was started by Lia @Lost In a Story! I’ll be doing this meme once in a while and hopefully minimize my TBR.

Here is how it works:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

Succubus Blues by Richelle Mead

When it comes to jobs in hell, being a succubus seems pretty glamorous. A girl can be anything she wants, the wardrobe is killer, and mortal men will do anything just for a touch. Granted, they often pay with their souls, but why get technical?

But Seattle succubus Georgina Kincaid’s life is far less exotic. At least there’s her day job at a local bookstore–free books; all the white chocolate mochas she can drink; and easy access to bestselling, sexy writer, Seth Mortensen, aka He Whom She Would Give Anything to Touch but Can’t.

But dreaming about Seth will have to wait. Something wicked is at work in Seattle’s demon underground. And for once, all of her hot charms and drop-dead one-liners won’t help because Georgina’s about to discover there are some creatures out there that both heaven and hell want to deny. . .

My Thoughts: When I started reading again, I started with paranormal romance. I was so OBSESSED with it, I added tons of it to my list. This one being one. When I added I was excited, but now mmmmm not so much 😂

Atlantis Rising by Alyssa Day

Eleven thousand years ago, before the seas swallowed the Atlanteans, Poseidon assigned a few chosen warriors to act as sentinels for humans in the new world. There was only one rule-desiring them was forbidden. But rules were made to be broken…

When she calls…
Riley Dawson is more than a dedicated Virginia Beach social worker. She’s blessed with a mind link that only Atlanteans have been able to access for thousands of years. Being an “empath” may explain her wistful connection to the roiling waves of the ocean, the sanctuary it provides, and the sexual urges that seem to emanate from fathoms below…

He will come.
Conlan, the High Prince of Atlantis, has surfaced on a mission to retrieve Poseidon’s stolen trident. Yet something else has possessed Conlan: the intimate emotions-and desires-of a human. Irresistibly drawn to the uncanny beauty, Conlan soon shares more than his mind. But in the midst of a battle to reclaim Poseidon’s power, how long can a forbidden love last between two different souls from two different worlds?

My Thoughts: There’s so many books based on this storyline I can’t even begin to tell you!

A Dark-Hunter Christmas by Sherrilyn Kenyon

This is the special Christmas story that features the gangster Gallagher and Simi when Gallagher is temporarily relocated to New Orleans to help battle Daimons.

Written as a gift for DH fans, it originally appeared in the back of the first edition of Dance with the Devil.

NOTE: This story has also been re-released in the Dark Bitesanthology

My Thoughts: I was a big fan of the Dark Hunters. Theres so many books in this series, it’s ridiculous. I don’t know if I’ll very catch up but I’m sure that I won’t be reading any novella’s or anthologies, unfortunately.

Storm Born by Richelle Mead

Just typical. No love life to speak of for months, then all at once, every horny creature in the Otherworld wants to get in your pants. . .

Eugenie Markham is a powerful shaman who does a brisk trade banishing spirits and fey who cross into the mortal world. Mercenary, yes, but a girl’s got to eat. Her most recent case, however, is enough to ruin her appetite. Hired to find a teenager who has been taken to the Otherworld, Eugenie comes face to face with a startling prophecy–one that uncovers dark secrets about her past and claims that Eugenie’s first-born will threaten the future of the world as she knows it.

Now Eugenie is a hot target for every ambitious demon and Otherworldy ne’er-do-well, and the ones who don’t want to knock her up want her dead. Eugenie handles a Glock as smoothly as she wields a wand, but she needs some formidable allies for a job like this. She finds them in Dorian, a seductive fairy king with a taste for bondage, and Kiyo, a gorgeous shape-shifter who redefines animal attraction. But with enemies growing bolder and time running out, Eugenie realizes that the greatest danger is yet to come, and it lies in the dark powers that are stirring to life within her. . .

My Thoughts: I find this summary funny and pretty interesting. I know, sounds kind of silly but sometimes, I  need that, silly! 😜

Crimson Moon by J.A. Saare

An average morning is what Emma Johnson envisions when she visits Joe’s Caf for a steaming cup of coffee. But the world isn’t the place she imagined it to be, and neither is she… After Emma is rescued from a horde of bloodthirsty creatures, she discovers she is the daughter of a powerful Vampire from the House Deviard, her rescuer, Caleb, having been sent to see her safely home. For Caleb is also unique, a werewolf procured to protect the royal Vampiric bloodlines from harm – but nothing more. Soon, the undeniable connection Emma and Caleb share evolves beyond attraction into something unexpected. When she is forced to make a choice, what path will she take – vampire or wolf?

My Thoughts: Again, so many books based on the same thing on my tbr. I was a big fan of PNR. Can’t you tell?😂

Have you heard any of these books before and should I keep or toss? How many books do you have on your TBR? Hope you are all having a wonderful day.

  1. I haven’t heard of any of these, but I completely agree with all the decisions you made. The synopsis for Storm Born sounds a little stupid, but in the best way possible. It seems like a super fun and quick read that doesn’t require much thinking. We all need that sometimes! If I ever break 1000 on my “to read” I’ll probably do this meme. I have 647 right now, so I have a ways to go!
