An Epic Story: Once A King by Erin Summerill

I received this book for free from a Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

When I read the synopsis of Once A King I found myself eager to read the other books in the series, Ever The Hunted and Ever The Brave. I have been wanting to read those books since forever and of course that after loving the synopsis of this book so much – because honestly IT’S AMAZING – I immediately requested an ARC of the book. I jumped out of emotion when I got approved to read the book and I immediately started to read it.

Once A King is for sure one of the best YA, Fantasy books I have read this year and I can say with certainty that is definitely one of my new all time favorite books. As soon as I started to read this wonderful story, within the first five pages of the book, I knew I was going to love it. I was immersed into a fantastical world that I didn’t want to leave.

This is a gripping and beautiful written story that made me feel part of it, everything seemed so real and I found myself cheering for Aodren and Lirra from the beginning. One of the many things I loved about this story is that we get to read from Lirra and Aodren’s POV, it definitely helped me to understand the characters and the story in a better way. Their personalities were different from one another but they definitely complemented each other and the swoons….

Once A King has slow-burn romance! At the beginning Lirra isn’t very fond of Aodren and specially his kingdom because it took her mother away from her but as Lirra and Aodren start to work together, to discover who’s behind the creation of a powerful and deathly oil, she realizes that he’s not the person everyone, including herself, thought he was. These two will definitely make you swoon more than once!

Apart from the romance, the friendship in this book was amazing. Lirra and Orli have been best friends since forever and after a certain event that happened in the previous book, Orli is not the same. Lirra was very supportive of her and was always there when she needed her and Orli was always there for Lirra as well, she helped her when she needed her the most. And just as Orli, Leif, Lirra’s cousin and Aodren’s best friend, was an incredible character. He was brave and loyal til the very end. They all had dreams, hopes, fears and struggles and I was glad they had each other for support.

There was a lot of magic, secrets, betrayals and twists! Erin surprised me till the very end and it was impossible to stop reading once I started, this is definitely a book you REALLY don’t want to miss. It’s incredible and after reading and loving Once A King so much, I really can’t wait to go to the bookstore to get Ever The Hunted and Ever The Brave, I want to read more about the characters that were mentioned in this book.

Have you read these books?📚 Are you planning to read Once A King?👑🏰 Please let me know in the comments below!

About the author: Erin Summerill

Erin Summerill was born in England. After spending years bouncing between Air Force bases in Hawaii, England, and California, her family settled in Utah, where Erin graduated with a B.A. in English from Brigham Young University. She had aspirations to write the next great American novel, but writing proved tougher than she first thought. So she grabbed a Nikon and became a professional photographer while crafting manuscript after manuscript. The scenic detour of shooting weddings across the United States, as well as internationally, provided world-building inspiration. It gave her the vision to draft her debut YA fantasy, EVER THE HUNTED. Now when she isn’t writing, or shooting a wedding, she’s chasing her four kids, two dogs, one cat, and five chickens. This could be why she downs massive amounts of Coke Zero and Hot tamales.

A heart to protect. A debt to repay. A game to win. Legendary by Stephanie Garber

This was a great tale but not as great as Caraval, in my opinion. Legendary was slower and less magical. It was a story between two people and their love for each other. I was expecting more magic, more games or even just mystery, just like Caraval but in the end, this story was mostly character built then it was action. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, it was still a prominent storyline with great characters.

Even though I knew who Legend was from the beginning, it was still an entertaining story, for the most part. The plotting did have some enjoyable moments and some twists that were truly unpredictable. Still, Legendary wasn’t exactly a fast-paced story that I thought was going to be but I retained my need to continue till the end. If without, say, does pleasant bits I don’t know what would thoroughly grip this story from being overly tedious.

With that being said I’m still looking forward to the third book in this trilogy. Even though I didn’t quite enjoy reading it because the trill and mystery weren’t the same as it was for Caraval. I’m still invested in these characters and quite honestly, I need to know what exactly is going to happen.

A Lovely Book – Always Never Yours by Emily Wibberley & Austin Siegemund-Broka

Hello lovely people, I hope you are having a wonderful day❤️
What are you reading or planning to read this week?📚
I’m currently reading Kingdom of the Blazing Phoenix by Julie C. Dao🏰👑🔥 and I’m planning to read The Cruel Prince by Holly Black! 👑

Today I’ll be sharing my thoughts about a wonderful story. A book that I highly and TOTALLY recommend you to read, Always Never Yours by Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund-Broka.

I LOVE Contemporary books with all my heart. I’m always looking for a new story that will make me swoon and laugh and after reading the synopsis of this book I immediately added it to my TBR. I thought it sounded amazing and something that I would definitely enjoy and guess what?! I ABSOLUTELY loved it.

Always Never Yours was a lovely and  swoony read.

It is the kind of book I have been wanting to read for a while and honestly, after I finished reading it I knew I would definitely read anything by these authors! This story was everything I wanted it to be and more.

Megan and Oliver are wonderful characters, I loved how different they were from each other but at the same time how perfect they were for each other.

Megan was a carefree and super talented character. I liked how she went after the things she wanted, how she always kept moving forward no matter what. She made me laugh so many times and there were other times when I felt bad for her when she thought she could be easily replaced.

While she loved to direct plays, because she didn’t like the spotlight, it was clear she had a talent for acting. She’s a character who grows throughout the story and who finds herself with the help of someone that changes her life forever.

And Owen?! He and Megan are totally different and I think that’s what makes them perfect for each other. He loves to write and when he agreed to help Megan to get the attention from a certain guy, I crossed my fingers and hoped these two would fall in love😆

Another thing I loved about this book was how Megan made Owen blush and the best thing was when Owen answered her back and made her blush…it was amazing and adorable and I loved how little by little they got to know each other and fell in love.
                                         THEY WERE PERFECT OK?!?!🙌❤️

Emily and Austin wrote a beautiful story about friendship, love and family❤️
This is definitely one of my new all time favorite Contemporary books, I really can’t wait to read it again❤️
I hope you guys like this book as much as I did, it was amazing!

Emily Wibberley:

Emily Wibberley grew up in Southern California, but instead of working on her nonexistent tan at the beach, she spent her time reading, making music and watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Shortly after falling for her best friend, Austin Siegemund-Broka, she attended Princeton University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2014 with a degree in Psychology. She and Austin now live and write YA contemporary together. Their debut, Always Never Yours, will be published by Penguin Books in Summer 2018.

Austin Siegemund-Broka:

Austin Siegemund-Broka cowrites YA contemporary with Emily Wibberley. His debut with Wibberley, ALWAYS NEVER YOURS, publishes from Puffin/Speak in 2018. A former journalist in the entertainment industry, where he covered the courts and, yes, met a couple celebrities, he graduated from Harvard in 2014 with a degree in English and a focus on Shakespeare. When he’s not writing (or reading) YA, he enjoys combing every corner of contemporary music and watching Buffy with Emily.

Review: Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo

Hello lovely people I hope you are having an amazing and wonderful day❤️

I finally read Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo😎🤩⚔️✨

You guys have no idea how happy I am right now🙌 After reading and loving The Grisha trilogy and Six of Crows, I finally read Crooked kingdom and loved it with all my heart. Right now, I just want to go back and read it again🙌

Crooked Kingdom is one of the best books I’ve EVER read🏰

It has everything I love in a story. There was non-stop action, amazing characters that will make you laugh and cry when you least expect it and just the right amount of romance❤️. This a story that once you start to read it you won’t be able to stop and that after you finish reading it, you will want to read it again.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Kaz, Inej, Nina, Matthias, Wylan and Jesper😎

The characters of this book will steal your heart before you even know it – see what I did there?😆- After reading Six of Crows I thought I completely understood the characters but I was wrong. Every single one of them kept surprising me till the very end. I loved how brave they were and how every single one of their abilities helped them succeed. They are my new all time favorite characters 😭

Leigh’s writing style📚

Leigh is one of my new favorite authors. I honestly can’t wait to read more of her stories. Her writing style is amazing, once I started to read this book I didn’t want to stop. I only stopped once and it was because I didn’t want to finish the story😆 I was scared of what would happen and well… I eventually finished reading the book and I’m glad I did.

After reading The Grisha Trilogy and Six of Crows, Crooked Kingdom was everything I wanted it to be and more🙌 I can’t wait to read all the books again, and read more about my favorite characters❤️

Have you guys read Leigh’s books?📚 What are your favorite books?✨ Please let me know in the comments below!❤️

Love the cover of this book, but the story wasn’t for me, Enchant by Micaela Smeltzer

Hello everyone I hope you all have an amazing and wonderful day❤ What are you guys reading?📚 I’m currently trying to pick my next read😆

The reason why I wanted to read Enchant was because of the cover, it’s stunning & dreamy and I definitely thought I was going to like the book even before reading the synopsis. After reading the synopsis I found myself eager to read this book, I mean a gray-eyed guy that goes to her graduation and when she sees him disappears?!  This was a book I definitely didn’t want to miss! Plus, it’d been a while since I read a Paranormal book😆

The story is about Mara who’s life changes drastically when she meets Theodore, a mysterious guy she saw at her graduation and vanished before her eyes. Things get even more complicated when he tells her what she is… She’s The Chosen One, an Enchanter. Now she and Theodore, her protector, travel to a safe house before the Iniquitous, who want her dead, reach them.

Enchant was a quick read for me. I think I read it fast because, as I mentioned before, it’s been a while since I read a YA Paranormal book. I loved the idea of the safe house being kind of like a boarding school where other Enchanters had to learn how to master their powers!

Sadly, I didn’t end up liking this book as I thought I would. I wasn’t able to connect with the characters and while I really wanted to like Theo I just couldn’t. He had a temper and it usually annoyed me that Mara still liked him. I know he was her protector and everything, but sometimes he kind of exaggerated his actions and got Mara in a problem, then again there were other times when he made me laugh, I was confused by his personality. Another thing was that the author used food to describe characters.

While it was a quick read I don’t think I’m going to read the next book in the trilogy, maybe this book wasn’t for me, but if you guys give it a try I hope you like it!
